Sharks, Logan Couture Agree To Long Extension

Logan Couture agreed to an eight-year, $64 million contract extension with the San Jose Sharks on Saturday, according to a person familiar with the deal.

The person told The Associated Press that the deal will become official as soon as Sunday, when Couture is eligible to sign the extension. The person spoke on condition of anonymity because the deal hasn't been announced.

The Capitals have agreed to a one-year, $1 million deal with playoff star Devante Smith-Pelly, according to multiple reports.

Smith-Pelly did not receive a qualifying offer from the Caps and had become an unrestricted free agent. But he continued to negotiate and the sides agreed to a deal Wednesday afternoon.

The Washington Capitals and John Carlson agreed to a new eight-year, $64 million contract, the team announced Sunday.

Carlson set career highs with 15 goals and 53 assists in 2017-18 as part of the Capitals' first Stanley Cup Final in 20 years. He added five goals and 15 assists in the playoff run to Washington's first championship. Carlson was the highest-scoring defenseman in the NHL during the regular season and playoffs.

Ilya Kovalchuk To Play For Kings

Ilya Kovalchuk has agreed to a three-year deal with the Los Angeles Kings, the team announced Saturday.

The average annual value of the contract is $6.25 million, a source told ESPN.

"We are excited to add Ilya to the LA Kings organization," vice president and general manager Rob Blake said in a statement. "He gives us an added element of skill and scoring along with a desire to win. We will withhold further comment until July 1."

Maple Leafs Sign Connor Carrick To One-Year, $1.3M Deal

The Toronto Maple Leafs announced today that the hockey club has signed defenceman Connor Carrick to a one-year contract worth $1.3 million.

Carrick, 24, collected a single-season career-high 12 points (four goals, eight assists) in 47 games with the Maple Leafs over the course of the 2017-18 season. In 167 career NHL games with the Maple Leafs and Washington Capitals, the Orland Park, Illinois native has registered nine goals and 21 assists. Carrick was acquired by Toronto in a trade with Washington on February 28, 2016. He was originally selected in the fifth round (137th overall) of the 2012 NHL Draft.

Blackhawks Agree To Deals With Vinnie Hinostroza, John Hayden

The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to two-year contract extensions with forwards Vinnie Hinostroza and John Hayden.

The 24-year-old Hinostroza set career highs with seven goals and 18 assists in 50 games last season. The 23-year-old Hayden had four goals and nine assists in 47 games with Chicago before finishing the season with Rockford of the American Hockey League.
